Our story – From an encounter – to a home for many!
The history of our orphanage begins with a boy named Santos. He was 17 years old when his life changed forever—and so did the lives of many other children in Kenya.

Santos grew up on the streets, surrounded by hunger and poverty, without a stable family life. He knew what it meant to get by without a safe place to live or regular meals. But instead of despairing, Santos decided to make a change, not only for himself, but also for other children in similar situations.

So it happened that Santos took the first child who asked him for help on the side of the road to his home and introduced him to his mother. He offered him a warm meal, a place to sleep, and a sympathetic ear. Despite the adverse circumstances, he had preserved something precious, his compassion.

It wasn’t long before he brought the second and third child home. Santos’ deepest desire was not only to offer the children short-term help, but to give them real prospects for the future. By the age of 21, Santos had taken in a total of eight children. But then his mother died unexpectedly, and Santos found himself alone with the children on the street.

During this time, his path crossed with Judith, a committed woman from Switzerland who was traveling through Kenya. Santos’ commitment to the children, his dedication and determination, and the values he imparted to them touched her deeply. She was infinitely impressed by this young man who had hardly anything himself, who had lost his mother, but who was willing to give everything to enable others to live in dignity.

It quickly became clear that this heartfelt project needed support in order to protect the children from becoming homeless again.

With dedication, passion, and a strong network, Judith succeeded in founding an association in Switzerland, securing financial resources, and creating a safe home for orphaned children. What once began with just a few children has grown into an institution with over 14 children who not only have a roof over their heads here, but also enjoy access to education, medical care, and loving support, no longer just survive, but truly live.
